METAIRIE, La. (AP) - Authorities say a man stole a produce truck and tried to crash it through the doors of a Metairie gun store.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Fortuato tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (https://bit.ly/2bWv1mJ ) that 23-year-old Jaharin Paul never made it inside of Jefferson Gun Outlet and nothing was taken.

Westwego police Capt. Edward Beyerback says Paul is accused of stealing a box truck Thursday night from a Westwego produce company he had just been fired from.

Authorities say Paul drove the truck to a closed gun store and then rammed it into doors on the side of the business.

Beyerback says authorities later captured Paul after he led officers on a chase inside the stolen vehicle.

He faces multiple charges including auto theft. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
