BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a former administrative law judge received a sex act in his chambers from a woman after hearing her claim for Social Security benefits.

U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance filed charges Tuesday against 73-year-old Paul Stribling Conger Jr. of Akron. Her office says Conger has agreed to plead guilty to charges of accepting a gratuity for an official act, obstructing justice and stealing government property.

From 1999 until 2014, Conger served as a judge for the Social Security Administration, deciding whether to grant claims for benefits.

Prosecutors say Conger in July 2013 heard the claim of a woman seeking Supplemental Security Income benefits. They say the woman months later engaged in a sex act with Conger in his Tuscaloosa chambers.

A Sept. 15 hearing is scheduled for Conger.
