MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) - A Marshalltown school board member who resigned his post as a prosecutor has been charged with trespassing and theft after being accused by a co-worker of stealing underwear from her home.

Officials say Ben Stansberry was arrested Monday and released. He did not return a phone message Tuesday from The Associated Press. Online court records don’t list an attorney for him.

Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper says the co-worker reported the underwear missing on Aug. 22 after Stansberry stopped by her Marshalltown home. Tupper stressed that the woman and Stansberry only worked together and had no personal relationship.

Marshall County Attorney Jennifer Miller told the Marshalltown Times-Republican (https://bit.ly/2bX30eL ) that Stansberry resigned from her office Friday, ending six years of service.

Stansberry was elected to the Marshalltown school board in November.
