SARDIS, Miss. (AP) - Gov. Phil Bryant is set to attend a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of a 300-acre shooting range facility in northwestern Mississippi.

The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/2bBcwQM ) reports that the ceremony for the McIvor Creek Shooting Facility will take place Tuesday morning at the Charles Ray Nix Wildlife Management Area near Sardis.

The $2.8 million project includes a 15-station sporting clay range, two skeet ranges with a trap range overlaid in each, a 5-stand range, a pistol range, 100-yard and 300-yard rifle ranges, and a 3-D archery range.

The Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Winchester Ammunition and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks all took part in planning the effort.

Officials say the project is expected to be complete within two years.
