NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - Policymakers and defense industry representatives have come together in Rhode Island to discuss trends within the industry and technologies being developed for military forces.
The Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance is hosting its third annual conference on defense innovation Monday through Wednesday in Newport.
The group is discussing innovation in undersea technology, cybersecurity and warfighting.
SENEDIA Executive Director Molly Magee says it’s an opportunity to discuss the future of defense with an excellent group of speakers.
Tuesday’s agenda included talks by members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation and Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo.
The chairman of the President’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity, Tom Donilon, talked about improving the nation’s cybersecurity posture.
Frank Kendall, an undersecretary of defense, discussed the Defense Department’s modernization efforts. He says resources are a concern.
