CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The Macomb County sheriff’s office is accepting registrations for a law enforcement academy for senior citizens.

The free four-week series of classes is presented by Sheriff Anthony Wickersham and focuses on sheriff’s office operations.

Wickersham says the department is “always looking for ways to keep” seniors safe.

Participants will learn about the sheriff’s office detective bureau, evidence collection, youth bureau, corrections, Special Enforcement Team and other divisions.

Classes begin Sept. 12 and will be held at the Macomb Intermediate School District in Clinton Township.
