OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Omaha Public Schools officials say they’ve received three separate reports within the past week of people attempting to lure students into vehicles.

The incidents occurred at Benson High School, South High School and Morton Magnet Middle School, the Omaha World-Herald (https://bit.ly/2c4nQam ) reported.

Separate emails were sent to Benson and South parents. After the third incident at Morton, all families in the district were notified.

The email said the students quickly reported the incidents to a nearby adult. All of the incidents have been reported to the Omaha Police Department.

“In each situation, we have shared information with the impacted building,” the email said. “We wanted all OPS parents to be aware of this situation and to know that we are working with the Omaha Police Department on the matter.”

The Benson student was approached by someone in a white van with dark tinted windows and side double doors while walking home. The driver tried to lure the student into the van, but the student ran away and told his mother.

The South student was approached by someone in a black Chevy pickup truck also while walking home. The driver tried to get the student into the car, but the student quickly found a member of the school’s staff and alerted the police about the incident.

The Millard and Elkhorn school districts also have reported luring attempts in the past few weeks. Millard families were notified that a person was trying to entice students into a truck near Bryan Elementary and Millard South High on Aug. 12 and Aug. 15.

In Elkhorn, a Manchester Elementary student was offered a ride home by a man while she was walking home.
