LANSDOWNE, Va. (AP) - The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says an infant in a stroller was killed and his mother was seriously injured when they were hit by a car in Lansdowne.

It happened about 8 a.m. Wednesday. The office said in a news release that the woman was pushing her 5-month-old son in a stroller as the two were crossing Riverside Parkway in a marked crosswalk.

Deputies say the two were hit by an SUV turning onto Riverside Parkway. Police say the infant died at a hospital and his mother was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
