STERLING, Colo. (AP) - Heavy rain likely contributed to the death of a Greeley man driving on Interstate 76 near Sterling.

The Colorado State Patrol says 37-year-old Shawn Wilbanks encountered heavy rain and standing water as he was pulling a trailer with his pickup on Tuesday afternoon. The Greeley Tribune (https://bit.ly/2c8MAx3 ) reports that the vehicles hydroplaned and rolled onto the side of the road. He was wearing a seatbelt but declared dead at the scene.

Troopers don’t think drugs or alcohol were involved.
