LONDON, Ky. (AP) - A Laurel County man is facing charges after being accused of injuring his 7-week-old baby.

Local news outlets report that the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old Gary Nicely of London was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including assault and wanton endangerment.

Authorities say deputies were called to a hospital about the infant who had sustained a severe head injury and was being transported to Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

The child’s mother told deputies that she had taken another child to school and returned home to find the baby unresponsive.

Deputies say the Nicely, who was caring for the infant at the time, had no explanation as to the cause of the baby’s injury.

It’s not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
