MILWAUKEE (AP) - Friends of a Milwaukee chef fatally stabbed outside a bar in Milwaukee say he was trying to help an acquaintance who was being attacked by her boyfriend.

Shawn Ostrom’s friends gathered outside Thurman’s 15 bar on the city’s east side Tuesday night to mourn his death. The 32-year-old Ostrom was a chef at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.

Witnesses say Ostrom tried to intervene in the fight outside the bar early Monday and was stabbed. Megan Liddell tells WISN-TV (https://bit.ly/2bQBbBn ) Ostrom was very protective of women and of all his friends in general.

Police have arrested two suburban Milwaukee men in the case. The Pfister released a statement which said co-workers have lost a respected colleague and work family member.
