HIBBING, Minn. (AP) - A pilot has suffered minor injuries after his single-engine airplane crashed at Range Regional Airport in Hibbing.

WDIO-TV (https://bit.ly/2c9BFTx ) reports the plane crashed at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Airport manager Shaun Germolus says the plane was landing when the wind apparently knocked a wing to the side, damaging the engine and one wing.

Bryan Fagerstrom with the Hibbing Fire Department says the plane did not catch fire, but it did leak fuel. The airport’s fire truck applied a blanket of foam to prevent the fuels from igniting.

Germolus says the pilot, who was the only person aboard, suffered facial injuries which didn’t seem severe. He was flown to a Duluth hospital.

The pilot is from Side Lake and keeps his plane at the airport.
