NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Police Department says a 65-year-old man is dead after he was hit by two vehicles in a hit-and-run crash in the Bronx.

The crash occurred just after 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police say the man was walking across Bronxdale Avenue when he was struck by a light-colored van. The victim was then thrown into the air and hit by a Honda Odyssey traveling in the opposite direction.

The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The 33-year-old driver of the Honda remained at the scene, but police say the driver of the other van fled.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the victim.

The crash remains under investigation.
