FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - An election-night error in which Broward County voting results were posted on the supervisor of elections website before polls closed is being investigated by state prosecutors.

A spokesman for State Attorney Mike Satz confirmed Wednesday that the office is looking into the matter. Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner asked Satz in a memo to conduct an investigation and called the early release unacceptable.

The Broward elections office posted results from early voting and some mail-in ballots about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. State law forbids the posting of results before polls close at 7 p.m.

The SunSentinel reports (https://bit.ly/2cf5o0L ) that Detzner sent the same memo to Broward Sheriff Scott Israel on Tuesday.

A county vendor already has taken responsibility for the error. The vendor, VR Systems, is used by 60 Florida counties.
