MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say water from a broken line has damaged the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse in Mason City.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2c0nxPA ) that Administrative Officer Tom Drzycimski (druh-ZIHM’-skee) told county supervisors that a feed pipe to a second-floor toilet broke early Sunday morning. The water seeped through ceilings and cascaded down a stairway on the west end of the building.

Drzycimski says water got into the information technology department’s server room. The water set off an alert to the network administrator, Andy Flagge, around 3 a.m. Sunday. He went to the courthouse, got the water supply turned off and called for help.

Drzycimski says no damage estimate would be available until a complete inventory is made of items needing replacement or repair.
