NEW YORK (AP) - Sixteen young New Yorkers have been getting experience in a specialized trade: masonry work for historic preservation.

The interns, mostly from the Bronx, are being honored at a ceremony Wednesday.

The Woodlawn Cemetery Preservation Training Program says most are now headed toward careers in the building trades.

The program was established last year by the Woodlawn Conservancy , World Monuments Fund and the International Masonry Institute . The latter is the educational arm of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers International Union.
