PITTSBURGH (AP) - Transit officials say a man drove into the path of a bus before slamming nearly head-on into it north of Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County medical examiner says the dead man is 33-year-old Anthony Ranalli, of Gibsonia. An autopsy was expected Thursday.

Witnesses tell police they saw his car swerving in traffic moments before his car hit the Port Authority of Allegheny County bus about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. That happened on Peebles Road, a busy road in McCandless Township.

Port Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph says initial reports indicate Ranalii’s car drove toward the oncoming bus, which swerved attempting to avoid the crash.

The bus driver and its only two passengers, a woman and a child, have been taken to hospitals for injuries that weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Their names and conditions haven’t been released.
