WASHINGTON (AP) - Washington’s police chief says detectives still have “more questions than we have answers” in the fatal shooting of a Democratic National Committee staffer near his home.

Chief Cathy Lanier joined relatives of 27-year-old Seth Rich Thursday in asking the community for information that could lead to an arrest in his slaying.

Rich was a data specialist at the DNC. Hillary Clinton has mentioned his slaying on the campaign trail while calling for limits on “weapons of war.”

Police have not detailed what kind of gun was used in the shooting, which occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on July 10. Lanier says it’s possible Rich was slain during a robbery attempt.

Rich’s mother, Mary Rich, says her son’s killer or killers need to be found to make his “wonderful neighborhood” safer.
