TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man has been convicted of first-degree murder in connection to the 2008 disappearance of a Tucson woman.

A Pima County jury on Wednesday declared Luis Vargas guilty of murder, burglary, kidnapping, arson and theft in connection to the disappearance of Kay Read.

Read was 62 years old when she disappeared on Feb. 15, 2008, from her Tucson home. Her body has not been found.

Vargas, who was homeless, was connected to the murder by fingerprints on a space heater in Read’s home. Prosecutors say Read allowed Vargas into her home before being kidnapped.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 20. Vargas faces 25 years to life in prison.
