KANAB, Utah (AP) - Police say flooding from a severe storm cell damaged homes and recreational facilities in a southern Utah city.

Kane County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Alan Alldredge told The Deseret News (https://bit.ly/2aG02aJ ) that the Wednesday afternoon flooding caused extreme damage to the basements and yards of up to 20 homes in Kanab.

Police say it also damaged a city park, a swimming pool and a baseball.

Alldredge says several Kanab streets, including U.S. Route 89, were so severely flooded that cars couldn’t get through them.

He says as many as 150 volunteer set down sandbags in the city and helped people whose property was damaged.
