PARIS (AP) - Florian Thauvin returned to French league club Marseille on a season-long loan while Swedish striker Ola Toivonen replaced Wissam Ben Yedder at Toulouse on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Thauvin joined Newcastle last year before the winger headed back to the French port city in January on loan for the remainder of the season. Thauvin came back to the second-tier English club in the offseason and played in four friendly matches.

Thauvin failed to make an impact at Newcastle in 16 appearances for the club.

Toivonen, a former Sweden international, signed a three-year deal with Toulouse, which completed its fourth signing of the current transfer window, following the arrivals of Christopher Jullien, Jessy Pi and Ibrahim Sangare.

The 30-year-old Toivonen - who can operate as a playmaker or a forward - is joining from Rennes. He also played for PSV Eindhoven for six seasons, scoring 79 goals in all competitions.

Toivonen fills the position left vacant by Ben Yedder, who signed a five-year deal with Spanish club Sevilla.
