CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Charleston police say a juvenile has been charged in a shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead and wounded another person.

Police spokesman Charles Francis says that a 15-year-old boy is in juvenile detention charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a gun during the commission of a violent crime.

Francis says the incident happened Thursday afternoon after a fight broke out near a Charleston park and escalated into gunfire.

Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten tells local media outlets that the dead man has been identified as 19-year-old Jontae Decosta of Charleston.

A second man was wounded and taken to the hospital. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.

It was the ninth homicide in Charleston this year.
