CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan is requesting a drought disaster designation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for three counties.

Hassan says crop losses have exceeded 30 percent in Grafton, Rockingham and Strafford counties. Those include alfalfa, pumpkins and blueberries. The designation would qualify those areas and all contiguous counties for any disaster-related programs or assistance.

Hassan sent a letter to Secretary Tom Vilsack on Thursday.
