GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Glendale police say a security guard escaped injury when he was shot once in his protective vest.

Sgt. Scott Waite says the incident occurred early Friday morning when the guard contacted a man who was activing suspiciously in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Waite says the suspect ran away and is at large.

He’s described as black, approximately 25 years old, around 5-foot-9, 200 pounds, with a mustache and wearing dark clothing and a red do-rag.

The incident occurred near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
