NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Rodriguez’ value has suddenly soared - at least when it comes to ticket prices.

Despite his .204 batting average this year, baseball fans faced average prices that on Monday were more than four times higher to see A-Rod play the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.

It’s the 41-year-old hitter’s last game with the Yankees.

According to TiqIQ, an online ticket tracking site, the average list price was about $300 - compared to $75 before A-Rod tearfully announced Sunday that he was retiring from the team.

StubHub was offering two seats in a Legends Suite for $9,500 each. But a bleacher seat could still be had for $66, up from $16.

Rodriguez returned to the major leagues last year after a season-long, performance drug-related suspension.
