ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Prosecutors say a former high school math teacher has been convicted of sexually abusing a 16-year-old student in a classroom.

The Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Office said in a news release that 39-year-old Nathan Lee Martin was convicted Thursday of sex abuse of a minor and other offenses.

Prosecutors say in December, the 16-year-old and her parents told county police that Martin had called the student to a closet at the back of a classroom. Authorities say Martin touched the girl’s buttocks and put his face on her chest.

Martin faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing in September.
