GRANDVIEW, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a missing swimmer whose body was recovered from the Mississippi River in southeast Iowa.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 40-year-old Jason Fowler, who lived in Muscatine. His body was found Sunday in the Mississippi’s main channel about a mile and a half northeast of Hawkeye Dolbee Access in rural Des Moines County. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Fowler went missing north of Port Louisa on Friday evening. Authorities say he was swimming with a small group of people around 6 p.m. when he ventured too far from shore and disappeared underwater.
