SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco police are looking for a group of burglars who drove a van through a Fisherman’s Wharf storefront before making off with merchandise.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2bbVrRm ) that police say the thieves smashed into the Digital Center, a photography and electronics store, early Tuesday while the owners were away on vacation. The thieves took an unknown quantity of merchandise and other electronics.

Smash-and-grab robberies appear to be on the rise in the bay Area. Most recently, thieves took about $50,000 of 18th and 19th century items from an antique that was robbed on Aug. 1.
