READING, Pa. (AP) - FBI agents are interviewing city employees in Reading (REH’-ding), Pennsylvania about activities that took place during a former mayor’s administration.

The current mayor says the interviews are focused on projects and contracts awarded by the administration of ex-Mayor Vaughn Spencer.

Mayor Wally Scott tells The Reading Eagle (https://bit.ly/2aPKCDu ) he contacted the FBI about a contract the Spencer administration had with a towing company. The owner told city officials last week he was owed $1.8 million for 81 cars that had been towed from the city.

At least seven people have now pleaded guilty in an FBI pay-to-play corruption probe of city officials in Reading and Allentown.

The case became public last summer when FBI agents raided both city halls as well as the homes of Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski and Spencer. Neither has been charged.
