BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (AP) - Police say SWAT was called to a Brookhaven apartment after one of two armed suspects in a home invasion refused to surrender.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2aDL1FM ) Brookhaven police Officer Carlos Nino says 19-year-old Tyreun Gaines and 30-year-old Antione Coon entered the apartment of a woman and her 1-year-old daughter about 4:20 Tuesday morning.

Nino says officers helped the woman and girl escape. Gaines surrendered after the rescue but Coon refused and SWAT was called.

Local media reports Coon tried to escape the ground floor apartment by tunneling into an upper unit’s air conditioning system and then by taking out a pipe to go through a wall under the bathroom sink.

Nino says after police sent a robot through a busted window Coon was arrested, ending a three-hour standoff.
