WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Warwick residents are being warned to watch out for coyotes after a woman was bitten by one while walking her dog.

Police received a report on Sunday that a woman had been bitten near the Cowesset Hills apartment complex. Complex management said it had received multiple reports of coyotes approaching pets and humans near the buildings over the last two days.

Police say a coyote was captured and euthanized. The state Department of Environmental Management is investigating whether it was the same coyote that attacked the woman. The animal will be tested for rabies.

The victim wasn’t immediately identified.
