LACEY, Wash. (AP) - A Washington man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a fatal shooting over a marijuana deal.

The Olympian reports (https://bit.ly/2b3DROP ) that the 19-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter and robbery. He is the fourth suspect in a January 2014 botched robbery attempt at a Lacey apartment complex that killed 34-year-old Daniel Smith.

Prosecutors say the five suspects planned to steal Smith’s marijuana.

Deputy Prosecutor Wayne Graham says the suspect was only 16 when the crime occurred, did not fire the fatal shot and, according to testimony from other suspects, did not want to go through with the robbery.

Graham says he hopes the adult corrections system can reform the suspect.
