OTTER LAKE, Mich. (AP) - A 59-year-old Lapeer County woman faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of her adult son who had cerebral palsy.

Tamara Leonard is being held without bond in the county jail. She is due back in court on Aug. 17 for a probable cause conference.

Sheriff’s officials say a 911 call was made Friday morning from a woman at an Otter Lake home who said she had stabbed herself and someone else.

Deputies found Tamara Leonard and 24-year-old Theron Leonard inside the home, southeast of Saginaw. Theron Leonard was rushed to a hospital, but later died.

Tamara Leonard was her son’s caregiver. She was treated for her wounds and charged and arraigned Friday.

The Associated Press left a message Tuesday seeking comment from her attorney.
