OLD LYME, Conn. (AP) - A section of Interstate 95 in Old Lyme was closed for hours after a person was killed in an accident involving a tractor trailer.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation said the southbound lanes between exits 71 and 70 were shut down after the accident that happened around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

State police said one lane of the highway and the ramp to exit 71 were reopened Thursday evening.

Police said the accident involved a pedestrian, who was not immediately identified.

Fox 61 (https://bit.ly/2h0p8a ) reported the person was struck and killed by the tractor trailer after getting out of a vehicle.

The road closure caused major traffic delays between exits 81 and 71, a nearly seven-mile stretch.
