ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have made in arrest in an attack on a woman jogging in July near East High School.

Police on Wednesday arrested a 16-year-old boy in the attempted sexual assault.

The attack occurred early on the evening of July 27. The woman was running in a wooded area of the bike trail system south of Bragaw Street and Northern Lights Boulevard.

The woman told police the suspect tried to overpower her but she fought him off and sought assistance from another person nearby. The suspect fled on foot.

The teen was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assault, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault charges.

Police say observations from patrol officers just after the attack and DNA evidence played roles in the arrest.
