RENO, Nev. (AP) - The University of Nevada, Reno is taking steps to increase the number of international students on campus.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/2fJcvRl ) that the university will bring two recruiting companies to campus next week for interviews.

UNR Provost Kevin Carman says the decision is both to provide more experiences to students and to make more money. International students pay out-of-state tuition.

UNR President Marc Johnson said bringing that diversity to campus for students and the community is a goal of the growing college.

Currently 3 percent of UNR’s 2016 student population is international. Carman says increasing that number to 10 percent would put UNR in line with similar institutions.
