PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say an innocent woman has died after two suspects being pursued by officers crashed into multiple vehicles in west Philadelphia.

The incident began Wednesday night when police following up a reported shooting near 48th street and Westminster Avenue found two men at the scene who evaded officers and fled in a gray Nissan.

Police chased after the men until they collided with four cars at the intersection of 52nd and Locust streets.

The victim, who wasn’t identified, was in one of the vehicles. She was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Both suspects were taken into custody at the scene of the crash. Lt. Ray Evers says investigators found a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine in the Nissan.
