SOUTHBURY, Conn. (AP) - A 59-year-old woman has been killed in Connecticut after her car collided with a garbage truck on a dark and slushy road.

State Police the crash happened on Route 188 in Southbury on Monday morning. They say a truck from Springer Sanitation Inc. appears to have hit a passenger car that had swerved while negotiating a curve.

The driver of the car, Kim Lesko, of Oxford, suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the garbage truck was uninjured.

A section of the road was closed for several hours. Police say the cause hasn’t yet been determined. They say it had been raining and the road was unlit and partially slushy at the time.
