ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Investigators in Buncombe County are looking for suspects after a jogger was attacked and left on a roadside.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office told local media outlets that deputies responded to a call around 5:55 a.m. Monday which said a man was lying on the side of the road.

According to the sheriff’s office, the man said a vehicle passed him during his morning run on the roadway. He said the driver turned around and occupants of the vehicle got out and attacked him.

Authorities say the man was taken to Mission Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

A woman who stopped to help the man said he was lying in a fetal position with a string tied tightly around his neck.
