DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - Duluth police say a 72-year-old man has died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road over the weekend.

The victim was identified Monday as Eugene Lloyd Thompson of Duluth. Police say Thompson was hit by a vehicle driven by a 75-year-old Duluth man on Saturday afternoon. Thompson was taken to a hospital and later died of his injuries.

A preliminary investigation suggests Thompson was struck while he crossed the road in the middle of the block and not at an intersection or crosswalk.

WDIO-TV (https://bit.ly/2gFnnyr ) reports police say there is no indication that the driver was impaired or distracted by a cellphone. The investigation continues.
