LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (AP) - An attorney for Logan Kitzhaber has been granted more time to investigate evidence from the traffic crash that resulted in the teenager facing criminal charges.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (https://bit.ly/2gt8pIn ) the son of former Gov. John Kitzhaber attended Monday’s court hearing in Lincoln County. His attorney, Ben Eder, told Judge Sheryl Bachart that three weeks would be plenty of time and agreed to next appear with his client on Jan. 17.

Kitzhaber’s car struck a motorhome on the Fourth of July after trying to pass another vehicle on U.S. 101 north of Lincoln City. Kitzhaber and a couple traveling in the motorhome were injured.

Kitzhaber was charged with assault, DUI, reckless driving, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person.
