CARSON, Calif. (AP) - The LA Galaxy plan to introduce their new coach on Tuesday.

Team President Chris Klein, general manager Peter Vagenas and AEG President Dan Beckerman will be on hand for the news conference at StubHub Center in Carson.

Among the candidates are former Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid and Galaxy II coach Curt Onalfo.

Bruce Arena returned to the U.S. national team last month, vacating his jobs as coach and GM of the Galaxy. Vagenas was promoted to GM and has been involved in the team’s search for a new coach.

Arena led the club to three MLS Cup titles during his tenure.

A new coach is just one of the major changes facing the MLS team after the departures of Arena and international players Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard last month.

The Galaxy finished sixth in the Western Division and lost in the conference semifinals.

On Monday, the team acquired the rights to midfielder Miguel Aguilar and a 2019 natural fourth-round MLS SuperDraft pick from D.C. United in exchange for the Galaxy’s 2018 fourth-round MLS SuperDraft pick.

The 23-year-old Mexican made 23 appearances for D.C. United since being drafted in the first round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.

Also Monday, the team exercised contract options on defender Ashley Cole, midfielder Rafael Garcia, midfielder Baggio Husidic, defender Daniel Steres, goalkeeper Clement Diop, forward Bradford Jamieson IV, defender Dave Romney, forward Ariel Lassiter, forward Jose Villarreal, midfielder Raul Mendiola and forward Jack McBean.

The team did not exercise the option of Brazilian defender Leonardo.

Besides Keane and Gerrard, other players out of contract are forward Landon Donovan, forward Alan Gordon, midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, forward Mike Magee and defender Oscar Sorto.
