ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police are investigating an early morning downtown shooting that left a man seriously injured.

Police just after 3 a.m. Sunday were called to the 440 block of west Third Avenue. The block is across the street from the parking lot that in summers hosts the Saturday and Sunday outdoor markets.

Police found a man suffering gunshot wounds.

The injured man was taken to a hospital. He underwent emergency surgery and was listed as stable.

Police are seeking information from witnesses regarding the shooting.
