PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - A Catholic home for the elderly in Rhode Island is promising not to press charges if their stolen Nativity scene is returned.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2hgoyF7) the statues depicting the birth of Jesus were taken from the Jeanne Jugan Residence of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Pawtucket.

Video surveillance shows the theft happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday and involved three unidentified men. Pawtucket police say they’re investigating.

Officials at the residence said they hope the statues are returned, no questions asked.

The Little Sisters of the Poor is an international organization that cares for elderly women in need. It was founded in 1839 in France by Saint Jeanne Jugan.
