PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - Police in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, are investigating the circumstances surrounding a baby who was brought to a hospital with a fractured skull.

The Portsmouth Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2hEPjQB) police say the baby was brought into Portsmouth Regional Hospital early Sunday by the mother for treatment to a bruised head. Hospital staff told police the injury was a skull fracture and the paper was taken to a Boston hospital. The baby’s condition wasn’t immediately known Monday.

Police Chief David Mara said further details will be forthcoming.
