PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police are investigating after a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot by a masked gunman while he was standing on a corner in west Philadelphia.

WPVI-TV reports (https://6abc.cm/2hf9lo2 ) the shooting occurred around 12:15 a.m. Monday at the corner of 60th and Market streets. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the boy, who was from north Philadelphia, was targeted by the shooter. It remains unclear what the victim was doing in west Philadelphia at that hour.

Witnesses told officers that a masked man dressed in all dark clothing fled the area in a white SUV.

Police are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area to see if any captured video of the shooting or the suspect’s escape.
