ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - Police say a Vermont driver hit a woman he’d once been romantically involved with after he saw her talking to another man.

Chad Ely, of St. Albans, was taken into custody Sunday. He remains jailed on $10,000 bail. He’s due in court on Monday.

It wasn’t immediately known if the Ely has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Police say Ely swerved onto the St. Albans sidewalk early Sunday and hit the woman and two other men before fleeing the scene. The woman told officers Ely became jealous when she began speaking and dancing with another man at a nightclub.

The woman was treated for injuries considered non-life-threatening. The two men declined medical attention.
