BENTON, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say a teenager from Texas has died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 30 in central Arkansas.

State police say the crash happened Sunday morning near Benton, about 20 miles southwest of Little Rock. According to a preliminary report, 19-year-old Williams Gregory Eakins of Nevada, Texas, died after driving off the interstate and crashing into a tree.

Eakins was pronounced dead at the scene. State police say it was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash.

Eakins’ death is the 508th traffic fatality in Arkansas so far this year.
