PROVO, Utah (AP) - The half brother of Utah’s governor has been sentenced to prison after authorities say he sought a sexual liaison with an underage girl.

Fifty-seven-year-old Paul Gordon Peters pleaded guilty last month to felony charges of enticing a minor and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. He was sentenced Monday to terms of zero to five years for each count.

A police affidavit says Peters started chatting online in May with an officer who pretended to be a 13-year-old girl. Authorities say he acknowledged he was aware of her age.

Peters was arrested May 31 at a Provo convenience store where he thought he’d meet a teen girl for sex.

Gov. Gary Herbert’s spokesman said in June that the allegations were horrific and Herbert and Peters were raised in different homes.
