MOUNT AIRY, N.C. (AP) - A woman has died in a fire at a mobile home in Surry County.

John Shelton with the county emergency services told local media that a neighbor reported the fire around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Mount Airy.

Shelton says 47-year-old Tammy Denise Hall Johnson was pulled from the home but died at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department, Pilot Knob and the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze.

The sheriff’s office, the fire marshal and the State Bureau of Investigation are all reviewing the fire.
